A Southern California native, Max DeMoss was educated at Claremont Graduate School. DeMoss's father, who emigrated from Greece in the 1920s, frequently took his young son to Los Angeles museums, and taught him to appreciate Classical Greek and Roman art, and the Great Masters.

Appreciation became inspiration to DeMoss; throughout his career, his sculpture has echoed his early affinity for the Classical aesthetic. Working with the fragmented form, DeMoss' subject matter ranges from the figure to Biblical allegory, from abstract to narrative. He has exhibited in galleries throughout the United States. Several of his sculptures reside in fine art collections nationally and abroad.

DeMoss is frequently commissioned to sculpt for indoor and outdoor, private and public spaces, and specializes in sculpture for sacred spaces. His recent commissions for The Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels, the new Catholic cathedral in Los Angeles, California, have won national acclaim. DeMoss' sculpture also resides in Catholic parishes in Rancho Santa Fe and Laguna Hills, California, as well as Scottsdale, Baton Rouge, and Fort Worth.

You will find Max on any given day in his private studio and foundry, amid orange blossoms and ranch dogs, on the ten-acre citrus ranch he shares with his wife, Carolyn, in Hemet, California.
